SEC Orders Re-polling In Five Wards

Polling - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday has ordered a re-polling of a Telangana Panchayat Sarpanch election and five wards within its purview due to a mistake made in the allotment of election symbols.

Due to the contesting candidates' election symbols not featuring in the ballot paper, the second phase of panchayat elections in Jallapally Gram Panchayat of Kotagiri Mandal, Nizamabad district will have to undergo re-polling.

As per the SEC, the symbols for the Sarpanch candidates were allotted after they filed nominations in Jallapally.

Polling for the Jallapally Sarpanch panchayat will take place on January 30 along with elections for ward members 3,4,5,6,7 and 8, as a part of the third phase along with the other panchayats.

In ward no. 5 of Mulkalakalva Panchayat in Nalgonda district, a notification was issued reserving unreserved (women) but one male candidate's nomination was accepted incorrectly. The polling was scheduled for January 25 but as the election authorities noticed the mistake at the time of printing the ballot papers, the Commission has rescheduled the polling for the Panchayat on February 8.
