Akbaruddin Owaisi - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Chandrayangutta MLA and leader of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Akbaruddin Owaisi withdrew his nomination papers for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat on Thursday. After this, it becomes clear as to who the MIM candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency will be. There was a confusion among the public when Akbaruddin Owaisi filed his papers on March 20. Asaduddin Owasi had also filed nominations for the same seat.

However, Asaduddin Owaisi the party chief and sitting MP said that his brother applying for the same seat was a part of their backup plan, which was a common practice among candidates to make sure that the contest proceeds as per plan in case one set of papers gets rejected.

As reported by a local daily, a total of 24 candidates had filed their papers for the Hyderabad seat. While five nominations were rejected during scrutiny, four including Akbaruddin Owaisi, withdrew.

Bhagwanth Rao Pawar (BJP), Mohammed Feroz Khan (Congress), Pusthe Srikanth (TRS), Asaduddin Owaisi (MIM) are among the 15 candidates who are in the fray.
