SC judgement on social media freedom: Who said what?

In a landmark judgement upholding freedom of expression, the Supreme Court today struck down a provision in the cyber law which provides power to arrest a person for posting allegedly offensive content on websites.

Here is how the politicians and the victims reacted to the landmark judgement: 

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad: Our government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a very conscious decision that we don't support the stand of the previous government. We respect the freedom of speech and expression. We respect communication of ideas on social media. 

CPM leader Brinda Karat: The CPM has always strongly opposed it not just because it is a question of misuse, it was also an instrument to curb the democratic expression. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor: Glad the SC has struck down Section 66A of the IT Act, which was liable to misuse; freedom must not be curbed."

Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena: The social media does have positive impact, but it's also being misused.

Rinu Srinivasan, victim of the Section 66 A: I am very happy with the verdict. It's a victory of the people who want to raise their voice against the wrong doings. I have got. justice today. The post I liked was not wrong or offensive for us to get arrested. It was misunderstood. But my family supported me through the tough phase.
