Who Will Be the Next IT Minister of Telangana?

 - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress Pradesh Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy, who was elected as the Congress Legislative Party leader (CLP) will be sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of the state on Thursday. The next step will be the government formation, however, one ministry that’s generating buzz among the industry experts is the Information Technology ministry. The IT ministry portfolio was held till recently by KT Rama Rao aka KTR. He is widely regarded as the architect of Telangana's IT boom.

KTR has been instrumental in shaping Telangana's IT trajectory, making it one of India's leading tech hubs. He’s left behind big shoes to fill and it remains to be seen if the incoming Congress government will find someone to fill it in and continue to attract huge investments from  IT companies from different parts of the world.

Madan Mohan Rao, who won the Yellareddy seat, is emerging as a strong contender for the coveted post of Information Technology Minister. He went to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a successful tech entrepreneur and IT company owner. He possesses the expertise and experience necessary to lead Telangana's thriving IT sector.

Under the leadership of former minister KTR, the IT and ITeS exports from Telangana recorded the highest-ever software exports to the extent of Rs 2,41,275 crore, which is a whopping 31.44 percent growth during the financial year 2022-23. The IT people are hoping for someone to take the mantle and continue Telangana's IT growth story. It remains to be seen if the Revanth Reddy government picks Madan Mohan Rao or springs a surprise.
