Meta Suspends AI Training Project After Employee Data Exposure

Tech giant Meta has temporarily suspended an internal artificial intelligence initiative after discovering that sensitive employee information became accessible across the company, raising concerns about privacy and data security.

The project, known as the Model Capability Initiative (MCI), was launched earlier this year to improve Meta’s AI systems. As part of the program, data related to employees’ daily computer usage was collected to help train AI models. The information included keyboard activity, mouse movements, clicks, and other interactions designed to teach AI how people use computers in real-world situations.

However, the project came under scrutiny after it was revealed that some of the collected data contained private employee information. Reports indicated that personal chat records, work-related performance details, and transcription data were unintentionally exposed to a wider group of employees within the company.

Following the discovery, Meta moved quickly to pause the initiative while conducting a detailed investigation into the issue. The incident has reportedly triggered frustration among employees, many of whom believed their information would remain protected under strict security measures.

Company representatives stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting that the exposed data was misused. Nevertheless, the project has been suspended until a full review is completed and appropriate safeguards are implemented.
