November 8 Bank Holiday for Second Saturday!

If you plan on visiting your bank over the weekend, then you must know that November 8 will mark a bank holiday across the country. According to the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India, or RBI, banks remain closed on all Sundays, second Saturdays and fourth Saturdays of every month. This implies that the branches will also remain shut on November 8, as it falls on the second Saturday of the month.

All banks in the public and private sectors will remain closed on Saturday, November 8. As the next day, November 9, is Sunday, it will be a two continuous-day holiday for banks. Online and digital services will continue as usual on these days.
Kanakadasa Jayanti in Karnataka
Apart from the second Saturday, banks in Karnataka will also be closed on November 8 to mark Kanakadasa Jayanti, a regional public holiday. The day remembers Kanakadasa, the 16th-century saint, poet, philosopher, and social reformer. He was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and played a major role during the Bhakti movement.
Kanakadasa Jayanti is celebrated with great devotion by the people of Karnataka, and government offices, schools, and banks remain closed on this day.
