Cyclone Alert Update: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Safe from New Bay of Bengal Depression

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced the formation of a new low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and the adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to intensify further in the next few days and move west-northwestward towards the central Bay of Bengal.

Meteorologists have indicated that this weather system could strengthen into a depression and possibly a cyclonic storm later this week. However, current predictions suggest that it is unlikely to affect the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh directly. Only light to moderate rains may occur in some coastal regions due to peripheral cloud bands.

This development comes shortly after the impact of Cyclone Montha, which recently brought heavy rains and strong winds to parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu. The cyclone disrupted normal life in several coastal areas, causing widespread rainfall, power cuts, and waterlogging before gradually weakening over land.

Authorities have reassured that the new low-pressure system is not expected to pose a threat to the Telugu states. The IMD continues to monitor its movement closely, and updates will be issued if the system intensifies further or changes its course.

Residents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can remain calm as no cyclone-related warnings are in place for the region.
