Telangana Inter Practical Exams: 16 Examiners Debarred Over Mass Copying

The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has uncovered serious lapses during the conduct of intermediate practical examinations, raising concerns over the integrity of the process. Investigations revealed that, at several centres, examiners allegedly abandoned examination halls, creating opportunities for students to refer to outside materials during practical tests.

The Board also identified major flaws in the evaluation system. In some instances, examiners were found to have assigned marks even before the examinations had concluded. In other cases, the responsibility of assessment was reportedly handed over to individuals who were not officially authorised to perform evaluation duties.

Adding to the concern, surveillance measures at certain exam centres were found to be ineffective. Reports indicated that CCTV cameras were either non-functional or flashing at the time when large-scale copying allegedly took place during the Telangana inter practical examinations.

In response to these violations, TGBIE invoked its strict zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice. The Board announced that staff members found responsible for breaching examination rules would face financial penalties, including the withholding of remuneration, travel allowances, and daily allowances.

To prevent further disruptions and ensure that upcoming practical exams are conducted without issues, the Board directed district intermediate education officers to promptly deploy reserve examiners and supporting staff from the approved waiting list. These steps, officials said, are aimed at restoring transparency and maintaining the credibility of the examination process.
