Hyderabad: Keeping in view of difficulties while distributing, the gigantic Laddu offering for Kharatabad Ganesh this year has been reduced to 500kg from 6000kg last year.

The Kharatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee asked the confectioner Suruchi Foods from Tapeshwaram in Andhra Pradesh which had been preparing the famous Laddu since 2010 to reduce the size of the heaviest Laddu to 500kg to avoid the problems of distributing it during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival starting on September 5.

Last year, the Utsav Committee faced a tough time while distributing the ‘Mahaprasadam Laddu’ prepared by Suruchi Foods. The Laddu will be offered to the god on the first day of the Ganesh Chathurthi festivities and will be put on display for nine days in front of the towering idol at the heart of the city—Khairathabad. After the immersion of the mammoth Ganseh idol in Hussain Sagar lake, the Laddu will be distributed to devotees.

The Maha Laddu will be put on display for nine days in front of the huge Ganesh idol at Khairathabad.

The sweet maker Suruchi Foods’ proprietor Polisheti Mallibabu said, “We have been offering laddu free of cost to the Kharaithabad Ganesh for six years and every year, the size would increase. But this year, we are reducing the size of the laddu on a request from the committee. A pandal had been set up for laddu making which involved 11 men wearing ‘Ganesh Mala’, he added.
