Jagan protests delay in payment of crop insurance amount

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday took the insurance officials to task for not releasing the insurance amount to the farmers for the past-three-and-a-half years.
He expressed solidarity with the farmers, who were demanding insurance amount for the crop loss in 2012-13. The farmers staged a protest at the insurance office at Bashirbagh.
YS Jagan pointed out that though 85000 farmers had paid the insurance premium, only 29000 could get the insurance amount. He also asked why the insurance officials kept the claims pending for over two years and not seek clarifications if there were errors in the claim forms. He demanded that the insurance be paid within a month, failing which the farmers would intensify their agitation.
Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy and party MLAs were present.
