LB Stadium Floodlight Pole Destroyed In Hyderabad Rains

Hyderabad: In a freak accident, a GST employee died after one of the floodlight towers at LB Nagar Stadium crashed on Monday evening. The city witnessed gales and rain last evening. The huge tower located nearby the tennis court came crashing down and fell on the right side killing GST superintendent Subhramanium and Ramesh.

Ramesh had a narrow escape and suffered fracture injuries to his leg.


Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials rushed to the spot and began rescue operation.

An eye witness recalled that as the structure fell, and the power was out, people began rescue efforts using torches.

One parked car was also damaged in the incident. Huge traffic jam was witnessed in the city, and disaster management teams of GHMC and police did not allow people around the accident site. Glass pieces and metals were strewn across the place.

In another incident at Chaderghat, a five-year-old boy Navneeth Raju while playing near his aunt’s house at Ayodhya Nagar colony died after asbestos and brick sheets fell from the penthouse of the three-storied building.
