Chandrababu Misused Central Funds Meant For Polavaram And Amaravati: Daggubati Purandeswari

Daggubati Purandeswari - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu misused Central funds meant for Polavaram project and construction of Amaravati, senior BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari said.

Addressing the media at the BJP office, here on Friday, she said Chandrababu is spreading false information about the quantum of funds granted and their utilisation by the state government. "He says that the Central government has not fulfilled its promises made during the bifurcation of the state. On the contrary, all the on-going welfare programmes in the state are funded by the Central government. Chandranna Bhima, 24-hour power supply and housing for the poor are only some of those centrally-funded programmes. However, Chandrababu continues to claim that those are the TDP programmes," she said.

Listing out the details of the funds granted by the Central government, she said:

  • New capital city construction: Rs 2,500 crore
  • Polavaram project: Rs 5,000 crore
  • Industralisation of backward regions: Tax subsidies
  • Houses for the poor: 6 lakh houses in AP alone (compared to 10 lakh in the entire country)

"How can the chief minister claim that the Central government has not done enough for AP, when the above figures more than clarify the generosity of the NDA government," she said. The BJP leader sought to clarify finance minister Arun Jaitley's statement that special package will be equivalent to special status in terms of funds and subsidies. AP will be benefited more from the special package than SCS. Any delay in the implementation of projects and schemes is purely due to the TDP government and not in grant of funds from the Centre," Purandeswari reiterated.
