Apex Court takes up Roja's petition on suspension

The Supreme Court has taken up YSRCP MLA RK Roja's petition challenging the stay issued by the division bench of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in connection with her year-long suspension from the AP legislative assembly.

Roja's counsel explained to the hon'ble chief justice about the need for her to represent the problems of the people of Nagari constituency, of which she is the elected people's representative. Reacting positively to her plea, the Apex Court said it would take up her case on Friday.
A divison bench of the High Court on March 22 admitted the appeal filed by the Andhra Pradesh government challenging a single judge order of March 17 squashing Assembly Speaker's decision suspending YSR Congress Party MLA R.K. Roja. The court issued a stay on the single judge decision that squashed the Speaker's order.
