AP Govt Does Not Sympathise with East Godavari Villagers: YS Jagan

East Godavari: The state government is not concerned about the welfare of the villagers and is therefore not heeding to their pleas opposing Divis Pharma Company in the area, YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
Addressing a massive public rally in Danavaipeta Village of Thondangi Mandal here on Tuesday, he said villagers have been opposing the setting up of the pharma company for the past 82 days. However, the government has tried to crush to protest with an iron hand without giving a fair chance to hear their case, YS Jagan said. "Besides pollution, the industrial waste from the pharma company will play havoc with the flora and fauna of the entire Thondangi Mandal. There are over 250 hatcheries in the region besides prawan cultivation. The pharma company will have a huge impact and this is precisely what the villagers are opposing," he said.

It may be noted that the combined income to the region from hatcheris and prawan cultivation is over Rs 33,000 crores, he said and wondered why the state government wants to destroy such a revenue generating aqua units and destroy the lives of the villagers. The YSRCP president also condemned the false cases filed against local MLA Raja and CPI leader Madhu for expressing solidarity with the villagers in opposing the pharma company.
