YSR Labs: Integrated Agri Labs To Be Launched In AP

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government will soon launch YSR Labs- a District and Constituency Integrated Agriculture Labs across 165 places at all the 13 districts headquarters in the State by the Kharif season. These labs will be established by integrating the departments including Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry. The Agriculture Department in its estimations says that these labs will cost around Rs 200 crore. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will also be providing additional financial assistance for these labs which will be built by the Marketing and Housing departments.

The labs will conduct tests to check the quality of seed, pesticides, fertilizers, soil health and other issues related to Agriculture and farming methods using advanced machinery.

Farmers can also apply for the testing processes through their Village Secretariats at their places.

The State Government also constituted an Expert Technical Committee under the leadership of H. Arun Kumar, Special Commissioner (Agriculture) along with 10 members, to identify the agencies for development of Unified digital platform (Software), barcode machines, supplying agencies of the required hardware/technical knowhow for the Integrated Agri labs (YSR Labs) like computers, printers, scanners and other accessories, floating of tenders, finalization of supplying agencies, duly following the procedure, purchase of hardware and installation, agreement with the supplying agencies for after sales maintenance/service etc. A GO was issued last week regarding the committee.

Regional coding centres will be set up in Visakhapatnam, Eluru, Guntur and Tirupati.
