AP Set To Celebrate Formation Day After Five-Year Hiatus

AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: The State Government has decided to celebrate the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day on November 1 this year. As part of this, the Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam conducted a high-level meeting on the 21st of this month to discuss the arrangements to be taken to carry out the celebrations across the State on the first of November.

He directed officials to make arrangements for the conduct of AP Formation Day celebrations in the State on November 1 in a grand manner. As per official sources, the State level celebrations of AP Formation Day will be organised at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada.

It may be recollected that after the State bifurcation in 2014 , the Chandrababu-led TDP government had written a letter to the Central Home Ministry asking for clarifications as to when the bifurcated state of Andhra Pradesh should conduct the Formation Day.

Replying to this, the Central government clearly stated that keeping in mind the original brand image of the State of Andhra Pradesh, it should continue to celebrate the Formation Day on November 1st as usual.

The four states that separated in the country were celebrating the day of partition as the Formation Day, whereas the original states were continuing to celebrate on the same date as followed earlier, it said.

However, the previous government did not hold the state Formation Day since the past last five years. Instead, the TDP led government took a decision to celebrate June 2 as "Nava Nirmana Deeksha" day, and spent of Crores of Rupees on highlighting the day as form of protest.

Even when people from different intelligentsia suggested that he celebrate the Formation Day on October 1 or November 1 as the State Formation Day, but he ignored their submissions and continued to organise Nava Nirmana Deeksha (June 2), every year in the last five years.

Now with the newly formed Government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the issue has been put to rest and the State will continue to celebrate November 1st as the Formation Day henceforth.
