Woman Blames Husband, ACP; Attempts Suicide

Mancherial: A woman on Thursday tried to end life by consuming sleeping pills after she was forcibly married to a lecturer.

Sri Vani, a native of Mandammarri in Mancherial, is now in critical condition at the Mancherial area hospital. According to the police, the victim's husband Sagar, who is working as a lecturer in a college, has tailed with the proposal of marrying her. When she refused his proposal, he threatened her to commit suicide and requested her that she agree to consider him at least as a friend.

On April 22, Sagar forcibly married Sri Vani at Kaleshwaram after taking her to a temple on the pretext of friendship. A shocked Sri Vani and her brother lodged a complaint with Bellampalli ACP Satish alleging that she was married against her will. But the her husband already approached the police and claimed that the marriage was performed by mutual consent. To prove his case, he uploaded the marriage photos and video on the social media. The police then counselled Sri Vani and asked her to go with Sagar.

Sri Vani then approached Police Commissioner Vikaramjit Duggal and has spoken to the media that her husband and the ACP are mentally harassing her. She also alleged that the ACP is threatening to book her brother under the SC, ST atrocity case.

Fed up with Harassment of husband and the ACP, Sri Vani consumed sleeping pills after writing a suicide note to her family. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.
