Why is Modi praising Salman Khan?

Actor Salman Khan weilded broom and prime minister Narendra Modi lauded him. Salman, who cleaned the streets and posted the photographs on his Facebook post.

In his response, Modi said Bollywood star's cleanliness initiative will inspire several people to join Government's ambitious Swachh Bharat Mission.

Starting his cleanliness challenge in Karjat in Mumbai yesterday, Khan nominated nine prominent personalities including Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Tamil superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood star Aamir Khan to join the campaign. Others invited by Salman are: Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, Pradeep Dhoot, Rajat Sharma, and Vineet Jain.

"I started with Karjat yesterday. Yeh Dekho photos," Salman's message read.
