KTR And A BJP Leader Battle It Out On Twitter Over Telangana Schemes

TRS Working president KT Rama Rao - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: TRS working president KT Rama Rao and a Gujarat BJP leader indulged in a political blame game on Twitter on Saturday over certain schemes, as netizens keenly followed it.

In response to the Union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, KTR said the 'Har Ghar Jal Yojana' announced by Centre was based on Telangana's 'Mission Bhaghiratha' flagship programme, akin to 'PM Kisan Yojana' drawing inspiration from Telangana's Rythu Bandhu.

A Twitter user found fault with KTR drawing parallels between Telangana and Centre. He said KTR was accusing the Centre of copying which was nothing but arrogance on part of the TRS leader. His argument was that TRS leaders including KTR had visited Gujarat earlier to inspect the working of a water grid there and the same was emulated in launching Mission Bhagiratha in Telangana. However, he added that KCR and KTR had got photographs and videos pertaining to that visit deleted from Google and YouTube. The act of deleting such traces and claiming that the Centre had copied from Telangana were tantamount to haughtiness on part of KTR.

Building on these claims and counter claims, Surat BJP vice-president PVS Sarma chimed in an attempt to corner KTR. Sarma said: "Dear @KTRTRS garu, Isn't it true that you: 1.Visited Gujarat to study the water grid system? 2.Praised the water grid system and Narmada canal water being lifted into river Sabarmati? 3. Implemented the lift irrigation in Kaleshwaram based on that? We request you to accept."

KTR hit back at the BJP leader that the former’sclaims were untrue. "Dear Sarma Ji, Sorry to disappoint you but Mission Bhagiratha was inspired by a comprehensive drinking water project executed by our CM sir in Siddipet constituency in 1998 (12 years before Gujarat). Had visited Gujarat also as Hon'ble PM wrote to all states to study the model," KTR wrote in response.
