Hyderabad: After finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her maiden Budget, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K T Rama Rao on Friday responded saying Centre's water scheme 'Har Ghar Jal Yojana' to deliver water to every household in the country by 2024, was inspired by Mission Bhagirathi of the state.

He added that last year Telangana's “Rythu Bandhu” had inspired the Narendra Modi-led NDA government to launch ‘PM Kisan’. In the interim Budget, Centre announced the scheme for direct transfer to small farmers and said that every farmer owning less than two hectares of land will get Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments.

Under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, farmers are getting Rs 8,000 per acre annually, at the rate of Rs 4,000 per acre per crop.

TRS MPs had earlier expressed disappointment that the Centre had not given enough funds for the Kaleshwaram project and also Mission Bhagirathi.

He also rued that even after five years of the formation of India's youngest state, there was no mention of the promises that was made for AP Bifurcation Act, an integrated steel plant at Bayyaram, Rail Coach factory at Warangal, Tribal University, among others.

He added that there was no mention about the important sectors for Telangana - Life sciences & Pharma, Information Technology and Textiles.

As the Centre had hiked the cess on fuel prices by Re 1, the prices of petrol and diesel rose on Saturday. In a dig to PM Narendra Modi, KTR reminded that when he was the CM of Gujarat, he had lashed at the Congress-led UPA government for rising prices.
