‘Pink Ribbon’ Walk Held For Breast Cancer Awareness

Hyderabad: A two-km Pink Ribbon walk was held in the KBR National Park on Sunday in which over 3,000 persons from different walks of life participated in the event. Students, breast cancer survivors, activists and doctors participated in the walk.
The event was organized by Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) & KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre to spread awareness about breast cancer.

The breast cancer screening programme by the UBCF which is being successfully done in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be replicated across the country with help from the Centre
This was UBCF's eight edition of Pink Ribbon walk marking the beginning of the international breast cancer awareness month. A host of events have been planned for the month-long Pink Ribbon campaign where in October 14-15 a pink ribbon tournament will be held.
"The breast cancer screening programme by the UBCF which is being successfully done in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be replicated across the country with help from the Centre,” said Dr P Raghu Ram, CEO & Director, UBCF.
He also said that on the record 1.5 lakh cases are detected every year in the country and nearly 70,000 persons succumb to the disease.
