5 Pilgrims Dead, 8 Injured In Road Mishap

Duvvur (Kadapa): As many as five pilgrims were killed and eight others were severely injured when the minibus they were travelling in veered off the road and hit a stationary tractor at Khanagudur village of Duvvur mandal in YSR Kadapa district.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the pilgrims were returning from Tirumala after having a darshan of Lord Venkataswara Swamy. Death was instantaneous for all the five. Others were shifted to hospital in Chagalamarri town in Kurnool district. The injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the police registered a case for negligent driving and launched investigation. The police suspect that the driver might have been dozing off when the accident occurred.
