Not an Outsider: CM Post Contender Uttam Kumar Reddy’s Jibe at Revanth

 - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Even as the suspense over the next Congress chief minister of Telangana continues, one of the three contenders for the top job, former TPCC chief and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy asserted that he’s still in the race for the chief minister’s post.

The Congress high command is discussing the issue of government formation in Telangana. As per unconfirmed reports the current TPCC chief Revan Reddy’s name was cleared for the top job during the meeting held at the resilience of the Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday. The other name doing rounds for quite some time is CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Amidst the uncertainty over the chief ministerial candidate, Uttam Kumar emphasised that the Congress leadership should consider the loyalty of a candidate to the party. Without naming Revanth Reddy, the Nalgonda MP said he’s not an outsider in the party. It’s worth mentioning here that Revanth left the TDP after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and joined the Telangana Congress.

Addressing the media persons in New Delhi, the Congress leader said he’s come to the national capital to attend the Parliament session.

“I am neither an outsider nor ever left the Congress party. I have been a loyal Congressman and I have won the elections for a record seven times. I have explained my eligibility to the party leadership,” Uttam Kumar told reporters.

My wife and I have been serving the Congress party for a long time, the Nalgonda MP said. He also said that he has shouldered every responsibility given to him by the party. He further said that the party was expecting a win in at least 70 assembly segments but we won only 64 seats.

“We did not expect that the Congress would underperform in the state capital (Hyderabad),” Nalgonda MP added.
