No Stopping SI Recruitment Results, AP HC Gives Nod To Board

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh high court on Tuesday allowed the Andhra Pradesh State Level Police Recruitment Board (APSLPRB) to declare the results of a written test held for the selection of police officers.

A single-judge bench had earlier stayed the release of results of the police job aspirants through an interim order. The matter of physical measurement tests of Sub-Inspector (SI) aspirant candidates came up for hearing today. The disqualified aspirants had filed a batch of petitions through their counsel Jada Sravan Kumar. The counsel submitted in the court that the candidates who were qualified in physical measurement tests for SI posts in 2014 were declared ineligible in the second test in 2023.

The APSLPRB has measured the height of applicants twice with scanners and many of them failed to qualify the test required for the selection of Sub-Inspectors. The officials of the recruitment board took the physical measurement of the disqualified aspirants under the supervision of the honourable judge. Subsequently, the high court heard the matter and set aside the interim order thus paving the way for the recruitment board to delcare the results. Meanwhile, the petitioners are considering to approach the Supreme Court.

The Andhra Pradesh government challenged the single judge order in the high court. The government pleader contended that acting on the court order the APSLPRB manually measured the height of the candidates but many of them failed to clear the test conducted for the selections of police officers.  The high court has warned the petitioners of Rs 1 lakh penalty if their allegations against the recruitment board are found to be false.
