Oppn MPs March to ED Office Stopped by Delhi Police, Probe into Adani Issue Sought

 - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Demanding a probe into the allegations of “brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud”, against the Gautam Adani-owned Adani Group, the leaders of Opposition parties took out a march from Parliament House to the ED office, however, the Delhi police stopped the leaders near Vijay Chowk.

The Opposition leaders were forced to move back to the Parliament Complex as police said Section 144 CrPC was imposed in the area. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the police prevented the Opposition MPs of nearly 18 parties from marching in protest and submitting its case to the Enforcement Directorate officials to demand a detailed investigation into the Adani issue.

“We want to present our case to ED for a detailed investigation on the Adani issue and we will keep trying to march forward," the Congress chief said.

Later, the Opposition MPs emailed their letter to the ED Director SK Mishra saying, “it (the ED) cannot turn around and abdicate its jurisdiction”.

“We are acutely aware of how in the recent past, the ED has also zealously pursued cases of alleged political favouritism, including sharing concurrent jurisdiction with SEBI and CBI. We are also aware of the limited remit of the Supreme Court Commission appointed on the subject. We point this out so as to remind the ED that it cannot turn around and abdicate its jurisdiction on these or other grounds,” the letter from the Opposition parties to the ED director was signed by the leaders of the Congress, CPI, CPI-M, JDU, SS (UBT), RJD, DMK, JMM, AAP, IUML, VCK, Kerala Congress and others.
