November 5 Bank Holiday here for Guru Nanak Jayanti!
Banks in several states across India will remain closed on Wednesday, November 5, due to Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartik Purnima. A number of customers are then looking forward to knowing where all banking services would not be available as many have to visit bank branches for some very important transactions.
States where banks will remain closed
According to the official holiday schedule of the Reserve Bank of India, banks will remain closed on November 5 in the following states and union territories:
- Mizoram
- Maharashtra
- Madhya Pradesh
- Odisha
- Chandigarh
- Uttarakhand
- Telangana
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Rajasthan
- Jammu and Kashmir
- Uttar Pradesh
- Nagaland
- West Bengal
- New Delhi
- Chhattisgarh
- Jharkhand
- Himachal Pradesh
Bank Holidays Coming Up in November
Besides Guru Nanak Jayanti, several other holidays are lined up for the month:
- November 6: Banks will remain closed in Bihar and Meghalaya on account of the Nongkrem Dance Festival and the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.
- November 7: A holiday will be observed in Meghalaya for the Wangala Festival.
- November 8 : Banks in Karnataka will be closed on account of Kanakadasa Jayanthi.
Online and Digital Services Operating as Usual
While physical bank branches will be closed, customers can continue to perform most financial transactions without any disruption. Services such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs will remain fully operational, allowing users to transfer funds, pay bills, and check balances conveniently.
However, certain branch-based services like large cash deposits, cheque clearances, and demand draft issuances will not be available during the holiday.
Advisory for Customers
Customers are advised to complete all in-person banking activities in advance of the closure and make use of digital banking channels for smooth and uninterrupted access to essential financial services during the holiday period.
The next bank holiday in several states will be observed on November 6, followed by a few region-specific holidays later in the month.
