The Odyssey Twitter Reviews: Here's what audience say!

Christopher Nolan's much-awaited epic The Odyssey has finally arrived in theatres, delivering a grand IMAX experience that has impressed many moviegoers. While professional critics have overwhelmingly praised the film, audience reactions on social media have been far more divided, making it one of the most talked-about Hollywood releases of the year.
Ahead of its release, The Odyssey received exceptional reviews from critics, raising expectations among fans. However, after the first public screenings on July 17, viewers shared a wide range of opinions online, with some calling it a cinematic masterpiece and others expressing disappointment.
Many fans praised Nolan's ambitious storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and large-scale action sequences. The IMAX presentation, in particular, received widespread appreciation, with viewers describing the film as a visually stunning and immersive experience. Several moviegoers also highlighted Matt Damon's performance, saying his portrayal of Odysseus added emotional depth to the story.
Supporters of the film believe Nolan has successfully transformed Homer's legendary epic into a modern cinematic spectacle while maintaining the emotional core of the original tale. Some even described it as one of the director's finest achievements.
At the same time, not everyone was convinced by the film. Several audience members felt the lengthy runtime affected the pacing, while others criticised parts of the screenplay, dialogue, and character development. Some viewers also pointed to uneven storytelling and audio mixing as areas that could have been improved.
A section of moviegoers felt the narrative became slow in certain portions, making the overall experience less engaging despite its impressive visuals. Others believed the adaptation struggled to maintain consistent momentum throughout the film.
Despite the mixed public response, The Odyssey continues to generate significant discussion online, with fans and critics debating its strengths and weaknesses. The film's spectacular production values and ambitious storytelling have ensured that it remains one of the biggest Hollywood releases of the year.
As more audiences watch the film over the coming days, its box office performance and overall public reception will become clearer. For now, The Odyssey has emerged as a film that has divided viewers while still establishing itself as a major cinematic event.

#TheOdyssey is the spectacle everyone expects but also so poignant. It just goes to show that the oldest stories and their themes still ring true and when that's told by a visionary filmmaker and personified by the greatest talent of multiple generations- a masterpiece is born.

#TheOdyssey Technically Brilliant, A True Cinematic Experience!
The first 30 minutes takes time to get going, but once Odysseus’ journey back begins, the film is exhilarating. Some sequences genuinely feel like a horror movie, while others play out like a proper commercial film.…

Yeah that was perfect. Score, cinematography, dialogue and acting all carry the theme Folly of Man so well. The whole cast has standout performances but ofc the family synergy w/ Damon, Hathaway and Holland is S tier . Patel, Pattinson & Page are S tier supporting too#TheOdyssey https://t.co/K237ZBwX7S pic.twitter.com/L1W5LPSHOI

The Odyssey - 4/10
It's a slog for most of the film. Some beautiful cinematography, but that's it's only redeeming quality.
The sound mixing is horrendous, which sadly has become Nolan's calling card. The music was too overwhelming at points.

THE ODYSSEY
🏵️🏵️
This action-fantasy is immersive, with a scenic look, an intense (and in my IMAX viewing, very loud: be warned) sound, and a character arc for Matt Damon’s Odysseus Chris Nolan wisely allows to take place largely by implication, trusting us to understand.
