Dragon Vs Peddi: Two Big Films, One Social Media Battle

NTR–Prashanth Neel’s Dragon glimpse and Ram Charan’s Peddi trailer have set social media ablaze, with both films drawing intense discussions, fan wars and sharply divided opinions within just 24 hours.

While Peddi arrived with a full-fledged trailer packed with emotion, sports drama and a sprawling rural backdrop, Dragon followed it up with a high-voltage glimpse loaded with dark visuals, action and mass elevation moments. Though both projects belong to completely different cinematic spaces, the audience response shows that expectations are sky-high for both films.

The biggest talking point surrounding Peddi has been its emotional strength versus cinematic ambition. Many viewers praised director Buchi Babu Sana for creating a textured village world reminiscent of Rangasthalam, appreciating the rooted atmosphere and large-scale presentation.

Several social media users felt the trailer carried strong emotional undertones and had the potential to connect deeply with audiences if the writing lands effectively in theatres.

“Peddi reminds me of Rangasthalam vibes. Waiting eagerly,” posted one user, while another commented, “The world-building looks massive. Everything depends on how strongly the emotions work.”

At the same time, criticism emerged over the film’s sports-heavy narrative. A section of viewers questioned the logic behind Ram Charan’s character excelling in multiple sports disciplines within the same story.

“One hero mastering so many sports feels exaggerated. That’s too much cinematic liberty for a grounded village drama,” a netizen remarked.

The sports angle reportedly failed to impress some Bollywood trade observers as well, with a few feeling the setup looked overly commercial despite the rustic backdrop.

Janhvi Kapoor’s presentation in the trailer also triggered online debate. While some praised her glamorous screen presence, others felt the styling and glam quotient appeared unnecessary for the tone of the film.

Despite the criticism, many believe Peddi still has huge momentum on its side. Fans are particularly expecting the music and upcoming promotional material to elevate the buzz further in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Dragon generated an entirely different kind of reaction online. The glimpse instantly grabbed attention for Jr NTR’s intense avatar, Prashanth Neel’s trademark dark visuals and the film’s larger-than-life action atmosphere.

Fans flooded social media praising NTR’s screen presence, dialogue delivery and voice modulation.

“Prashanth Neel cooked something wild here. NTR absolutely owned the glimpse,” wrote one fan.

Another user posted, “The scale and intensity are insane. This world already feels huge.”

However, not everyone was convinced. A recurring criticism centered around Prashanth Neel repeating the visual grammar and treatment seen earlier in KGF and Salaar. Several users felt Dragon looked stylistically too familiar.

“KGF, Salaar and now this — everything feels visually similar,” one viral comment read.

Some viewers even joked that the glimpse revealed too much content for a first promotional cut.

“Is this really a glimpse or a mini trailer? Looks like they already showed half the story,” another user quipped.

Interestingly, speculation about a possible connection to the KGF universe also surfaced online after certain visual cues in the teaser.

At the same time, comparisons between NTR, Yash and Prabhas became another discussion point, with some debating whether NTR’s look matched the aura established by Neel’s previous heroes.

A few cinephiles also raised concerns about Prashanth Neel’s storytelling approach after Salaar, arguing that style and elevation moments should not overshadow character depth and writing quality in Dragon.

What makes the current online battle fascinating is that both films are now facing very similar expectations despite their contrasting genres.

Audiences want Peddi to deliver emotionally powerful storytelling beneath its expansive sports-and-village backdrop, while Dragon is expected to offer something fresher and more layered beyond Neel’s established dark-action template.

For now, both films have undeniably achieved one major victory — they have completely taken over social media conversations, with debates, praise, criticism and fan theories continuing nonstop.
