As the first Asian and Indian woman to win Miss World in 1966, a 23 year old girl Reita Faria Powell, a native of Mumbai, Maharashtra, broke stereotypes and motivated future generations. Even after her incredible triumph, Reita made the decision to put her medical career first, exemplifying beauty with a purpose.

Reita Faria Powell followed her dream of becoming a doctor and went on to become a mother and practising physician.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Hailing from Mangalore, Karnataka, Aishwarya's victory in 1994 marked her as the second Indian to win the Miss World title, elevating her to iconic status in India and around the world.

In addition to her work in Indian film, Aishwarya is a goodwill ambassador for UNAIDS and actively participates in a number of charitable causes.

Diana Hayden
