Revanth Reddy Govt Faces Backlash Over TS TET 2024 Fee

 - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Revanth Reddy-led Congress government is facing a massive backlash after reports emerged that it has hiked the fee for the upcoming TS TET 2024 exam. Unemployed youth and the student unions have staged protests to highlight the unreasonable hike in the exam fee, here on Monday.

According to sources, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has sought a response from the concerned department. It is said the chief minister has strongly criticised the officials for taking an arbitrary decision without judging the people's mood. It is also learnt that CMO is looking into the issue before it gets out of hand.

Ahead of the Telangana elections, the Congress party had promised the voters that the government would reduce the exam for all competitive examinations, however, the fees had been increased which triggered a huge reaction from the people.

Until 2017, the TET exam fee was a nominal Rs. 200 for a single paper which was later increased by Rs 100. Last year, the fees was increased to Rs 400. However, this year, fees have been revised yet again and the candidates have to pay Rs 1,000 for each paper. This year, nearly 3 lakh candidates are expected to write the teacher eligibility test (TET). SFI state president RL Murthy has strongly criticised the government’s move to increase the TET exam fees.

“There has been a huge jump in the TS TET 2024 exam fee. The government should desist from adding additional burden on the unemployed youth through its arbitrary decisions. We will take to the streets if the government does not restore the previous fees,”  Murthy said.
