Dussehra 2025 School Holidays: Full State-Wise List

With the festive season rolling around, Navratri, Durga Puja, and Dussehra 2025 preparations are in full swing in every corner of the country. A bonus for students this year, as schools and colleges in many states will be closed for nine straight days. The extended holiday season should provide students not only with time to celebrate but also an opportunity to study and prepare for examinations.
Dussehra 2025 Date and Holiday Calendar
Dussehra or Vijayadashami will fall on October 2, 2025. Schools traditionally remain closed for a few days during Navratri and Dussehra, but this year a lot of states have announced an extended holiday. The break normally ranges from Ashtami to Vijayadashami, but this year, some states have declared school closure for the entire festive week.
States Declaring Long Holidays
- Uttar Pradesh – Many districts will have schools closed for about nine days during the period of Dussehra.
- Bihar – The state education department has issued notifications allowing schools and colleges to have extended holidays.
- Madhya Pradesh – Students in this region will also have a long festive holiday break, according to state orders.
- Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh – Schools in these states will be closed during Dussehra and Durga Puja.
- West Bengal – Famous for Durga Puja, schools and colleges too will close down for a few days, coinciding with Navratri and Dussehra.
Holiday Plans in Other States
In a few southern states like Karnataka, the holiday season could be shorter, between one to three days. Formal intimation is awaited after notification by the state governments.
Why the Long Holidays Matter
These holidays are a boon for students, providing time for family reunions, cultural involvement, and relaxation. Paradoxically, education professionals recommend that parents assist kids in keeping up a well-balanced schedule. Reading, creative pursuits, and restrained screen time can turn the holiday more productive while not leaving space for festive enjoyment.
Parent Tips During Festival Holidays
- Enlighten kids about the importance of Navratri and Dussehra.
- Ensure there is equilibrium between studies and relaxation.
- Involve children with books, hobbies, and creative pursuits rather than excessive use of gadgets.
The Dussehra 2025 holidays will be a fun-filled time for students and families all over India. Whether celebrating at home, visiting temples, or studying for upcoming examinations, the extended break has something to offer to all.
