Sambhal Cold Storage Roof Collapse Claims 8 Lives

Sambhal: Eight people died after a roof of a potato cold storage fell on them. Eleven others were rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams. The incident was reported from  Chandausi area of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh.

According to officials, the incident took place at 11:30 AM on Thursday. The NDRF and SDRF rescue teams are working with the rescue operations to help the victims.

Moradabad DIG Shalabh Mathur spoke to ANI saying 8 members were killed and 11 rescued by the Disaster teams as there is a basement in the building, they are trying to reach there and sniffer dogs are also helping search others who may have been trapped. The main cause for collapse of building is yet to be ascertained.

Superintendent of police (SP), Sambhal, Chakesh Mishra added that an FIR has been registered against the owners. The primary accused is on the run, while four people are being interrogated.

The owners have been identified as Ankur Agarwal and Rohit Agarwal, who are the property owners and have been booked under section 304 and “ADM” level inquiry has been initiated into this issue as the cold storage did not comply with the standards.
