33 Migrant Workers Injured As Bus Turns Turtle In Srikakulam

 - Sakshi Post

SRIKAKULAM: A bus carrying over 40 migrant labourers turned turtle near Mandasa in Srikakulam district on Tuesday.
According to reports, 33 persons had suffered injuries and some of them are in critical condition. All the migrant labourers hail from West Bengal.

The migrant labourers after completing their quarantine facility in Bengaluru had started their journey to Kolkata in a private traveller bus. The mishap occurred when the bus had reached near Mandasa after losing control.

Police rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations and shifted the injured persons to the nearby hospitals for treatment. Reports suggest that there are 42 people travelling on the bus at the time of the incident.

Locals said that over speeding and negligence of the driver could possibly be the reason for the accident.
Police have registered a case and investigating the case.

It must be noted that due to coronavirus-induced lockdown, several migrant workers, daily-wage labourers, with no basic amenities to sustain themselves are forced to walk back to their native places. Although the government has started the 'Special Shramik Trains', workers have yet resorted to walking or finding out ways to reach their homes.
