We Lost Three Family Members to Political Violence: YS Jagan
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a blistering attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of running politics through “conspiracies, violence and diversion tactics” while attempting to malign the YSR Congress Party.
Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office, Jagan alleged that Chandrababu was deliberately creating sensational narratives to divert public attention from governance failures and ongoing issues in the state.
‘Who Promoted Axe and Gun Culture?’
In a strongly worded attack, Jagan questioned Chandrababu over what he called the “axe party” and “gun culture” in Andhra Pradesh politics. He alleged that the TDP leadership had a long history of encouraging violent politics while falsely branding YSRCP as aggressive.
“Who promoted murder politics? Who created a gun culture?” Jagan asked, repeatedly targeting Chandrababu and demanding answers over several past incidents linked to political violence in the state.
‘Our Family Were Victims of Political Violence’
Jagan turned emotional while referring to the deaths in his own family, stating that YSRCP leaders were victims rather than perpetrators of violence.
He recalled the murder of his grandfather YS Raja Reddy during Chandrababu’s tenure as Chief Minister and alleged that the accused in the case were politically protected. He also referred to the death of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, claiming Chandrababu had openly issued political warnings against YSR in the Assembly shortly before the helicopter crash that killed him.
Jagan further brought up the murder of his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy, alleging that the investigation was manipulated for political benefit and that “real culprits were being shielded while innocents were targeted.”
Sharp Attack on Yellow Media
The former Chief Minister also lashed out at select Telugu media channels, accusing them of functioning as part of Chandrababu’s “political machinery.” He alleged that fabricated stories, false narratives and selective reporting were being used to damage YSRCP’s image.
According to Jagan, certain media houses had turned into “propaganda platforms” working solely to politically attack him and his party.
Revives Old Political Flashpoints
Jagan revived several controversial political incidents from Andhra Pradesh’s history to corner Chandrababu. He referred to the murder of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga and questioned the political circumstances surrounding the case.
He also cited the political ouster of N. T. Rama Rao, accusing Chandrababu of betraying his own father-in-law to grab power and control over the Telugu Desam Party.
Jagan alleged that “backstabbing, conspiracies and corpse politics” had become Chandrababu’s trademark political strategy over the decades.
‘People Know the Truth’
Concluding his attack, Jagan claimed the people of Andhra Pradesh clearly understood “who thrives on conspiracies and violence for political survival.” He asserted that YSRCP believed in credibility and welfare politics, unlike what he described as Chandrababu’s “fear-driven and manipulative politics.”
In a personal jibe, Jagan remarked that Chandrababu, at 77, should rethink engaging in what he termed “cheap political games” at this stage of his career.
