Chandrababu's Hide-and-Seek Upset Netas

ASR district: Pre-poll arrangements with other opposition parties seem to be damaging the future electoral prospects of Telugu Desam Party. With BJP joining the TDP-led alliance, the party leadership is facing dissidence in Paderu TDP unit. As per the reports, the TDP has decided to allocate the Paderu seat to the BJP.

Ticket aspirants for Paderu seat, who worked hard for years to strengthen the party in the constituency are disappointed. They have been trying to meet the party chief Chandrababu Naidu to explain to him the significance of Paderu seat and put pressure on him not to allocate the seat to its new election partner but in vain.

After forging an alliance with JSP and BJP, Naidu has become so busy that he does not find time to meet his own party leaders. It is a double blow for the TDP as seat allocation in some TDP-dominated constituencies to the allies has disappointed several party members and Naidu’s reluctance to meet his own party leaders to listen to their problems is making him unpopular among the party’s rank and file.

On March 15, disgruntled Ex-MLA Giddi Eswari organised a rally in Paderu town as a show of strength. Eswari is the Paderu constituency incharge. She had unsuccessfully contested the election from Paderu on a TDP ticket. She warned the TDP leadership that if Paderu assembly seat is given to BJP, the local party unit will not cooperate with the alliance candidate. Meanwhile, the party leadership reached out to the angry party leaders and tried to explain to them the reason for their decision.
