AP Red Book Politics: Ambati Rambabu, YSRCP Leaders Harassed by Police

The harassment of YSRCP leaders continued. Former minister Ambati Rambabu faced police restrictions while travelling from Rajahmundry to Guntur on Thursday, February 19, after he was granted bail. Police served notices under Section 30 and repeatedly stopped his convoy during the journey, drawing sharp criticism from the public and YSRCP cadres.

According to reports, police intercepted Ambati Rambabu’s convoy at several points and issued Section 30 notices to him and YSRCP leader Jakkampudi Raja. Prakash Nagar police also registered cases against several other YSRCP leaders in connection with the incident.

Ambati Rambabu, who left Rajahmundry for Guntur on Thursday, alleged that police created obstacles throughout his journey. His convoy was stopped repeatedly, and vehicles accompanying him were halted at frequent intervals. Police reportedly stopped vehicles following his car every 100 meters, causing significant disruption.

Expressing strong displeasure, Ambati Rambabu said he was willing to travel by car if permitted without obstruction. However, he warned that if police continued to stop vehicles accompanying him, he would proceed on foot instead.

He also strongly condemned the issuance of Section 30 notices, questioning the timing of the action. Ambati remarked that such notices were not issued when his residence was attacked earlier, but were now being used when he was merely travelling in a convoy. He accused the government of targeting YSRCP leaders through vindictive measures.
