YSRCP Questions How 50 Lakh Votes Were Polled Overnight

It is known that the YSRCP has strongly objected to the conduct of the 2024 Assembly elections in the State, alleging large-scale irregularities and possible rigging. Speaking to the media on Saturday, former MLA Sake Sailajanath questioned how nearly 50 lakh votes were polled during late night hours under unclear circumstances.

He pointed out that on May 13, the day of polling, officials initially announced a turnout of 68 percent. However, between 11:45 PM and 2:00 AM, the polling percentage reportedly surged sharply, eventually reaching 81.85 percent. Sailajanath alleged that such a drastic increase within a short span raised serious suspicions and indicated a possible conspiracy.

He further stated that as per election norms, only voters present in queues by 5:00 PM are permitted to cast their votes, and tokens were reportedly issued to around 30,000 voters. However, nearly 50,000 votes were recorded during that period, creating significant discrepancies.

Terming the developments as alarming, Sailajanath demanded that the Election Commission conduct a thorough probe into the alleged irregularities and clarify the discrepancies to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
