SC Gives It For Karnataka Speaker, Says He Must Not be Forced To Decide In A Time Frame

Bengaluru: The Supreme Court on Wednesday in its order of the on the pleas of 15 rebel Congress-JD (S) MLAs seeking a direction to Assembly Speaker to accept their resignations said that the speaker cannot be forced to take a decision within a time frame.

The apex court noted that the Karnataka MLAs are not compelled to participate in the trust vote tomorrow.

Mukul Rohatgi, who is representing Karnataka MLAs said that the SC made two important points in view if the trust vote. Fifteen MLAs will not be compelled to attend the House on Thursday and that they are given the liberty to may or may not go to the House.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader B. S. Yeddyurappa expressed confidence that the government will not last long.

"Certainly the Government will not last because they do not have the numbers," he was quoted saying by ANI.

Reacting to the verdict, BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said that, "There is anarchy in the state because of HD Kumaraswamy, he should resign immediately after this verdict and not wait for the trust vote."
