The Government of India has appealed to the people not to circulate wrong messages on the social media that spread disaffection among religions. A PIB release has clarified that no distinction is made in the GST Law on any provision based on religion.

The release said: Some messages are being spread in the social media that the temple trusts have to pay the GST while the churches and mosques are exempt. This is completely untrue because no distinction is made in the GST Law on any provision based on religion."
