Twitterati Hail First Look From RGV’s Lakshmi NTR

A still from the movie - Sakshi Post

Maverick film director Ram Gopal Varma posted a tweet on Friday evening, embedding the Youtube link to the first look from his much-awaited biopic, Lakshmi's NTR.

Expectedly, the response to the video was overwhelming. By Saturday morning, with just over 12 hours of his post, the Youtube video notched up close to a million views.

Twitterati were astonished to see the stunning resemblance between NTR and the actor picked by RGV to portray the actor-turned-politician. Movie critic Mahesh Kathi exclaimed on the popular micro-blogging site, "How the hell did you raise NTR from the dead?"

RGV's post evoked similar reactions from several other users on Twitter:

Some were more graphic in their comments on the theme. Take a look at this:

There were those who said the actor chosen by RGV would have been a better choice for Balakrishna's film. One user, in a tongue-in-cheek remark, commented that the Nandamuri star and Hindupur TDP MLA could at least have recovered his budget:

Some were less subtle:

There were other Twitter users who said that Kathanayakudu may evoke nostalgia, but is"sugar-loaded hagiography", whereas RGV's film promises to tell the viewer the story of the man behind the star with all his flaws."

One user couldn't help taking a dig at the "yellow batch."

Earlier in the evening, in one tweet taking potshots at Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, RGV poses the question, "Who could have imagined what would happen after this marriage?" The question itself led to a host of responses from Twitterati, who have have been following him closely. Sample his post:
