Harassed By Cop, Guntur Couple Attempts Suicide   

Guntur: Unable to bear  police harassment, a couple belonging to Mathukupalli of Guntur district attempted suicide on Monday.

As per reports, Ramisetty Srinivas Rao who is a native of  Mathukupalli village of Savalyapuram mandal had a quarrel with a person from the same village sometime ago. Few days later, a complaint was lodged against Rao by the man in Savalyapuram police station and the station SI Suresh called Rao and ill treated him. Depressed over it, Rao took his wife Naga Lakshmi and headed to Vinukonda to commit suicide. Along the way, the couple halted at a school and met their children. Later they resumed their journey to a temple near Madhamanchipadu and consumed poison.

Locals who found the couple informed the police and shifted them to Vinukonda hospital. The condition of both is said to be stable.

On learning about the issue, YSRCP Vinukonda incharge Bolla Brahma Naidu visited the hospital and consoled the couple. He also ordered the police to begin an immediate probe into the SI's misbehaviour.
