Balanagar Metro Railway Station’s Name Gets Changed

Balanagar station - Sakshi Post

The Hyderabad Metro Rail has decided to rename Balanagar Metro Station as Ambedkar Metro Station. Orders to this effect were issued by Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director Shivanand Nimbargi. The decision was taken after several Dalit organisations and civil society organisations wanted the station to be named after Ambedkar.

Sources said the distance between the station and the Balanagar area is around 3 km and a new station could come up during future expansion and this could create confusion. Hence, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has decided to rename the railway station.

The metro train services are operational from 6 am to 10 pm. L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd has fixed a minimum of Rs 10 for a distance of up to 2 km and the maximum fare is Rs 60 for a distance of more than 26 km.
