Heat Stroke Kills Elderly Couple In Yanam

East Godavari: An elderly couple died within minutes of each other after suffering from heat stroke on Monday.

The incident took place in Tallarevu village near Yanam. The victims, identified as G Kamaraju (75), and his wife, G Subhadrama (70), worked in a private school. After returning from work on Sunday, the couple collapsed on reaching home.

While family members were trying to shift Kamaraju to hospital, his wife collapsed 10 minutes later. According to the family members, both were declared dead even before they were taken to hospital.

The doctors at the hospital stated that the temperature in East Godavari district on Sunday reached 45 degree Celsius. Following this incident, the district officials issued an advisory asking people not to work in the open and also keep a stock of glucose packets to evade issues caused by heat stroke.
