Bengaluru: A fun party night turned out to be painful for a woman after she was hurt while trying a flaming shot at a Bengaluru hotel on Friday night.

The Delhi-based woman who works as an aviation professional complained to police that pieces of glass broke because of the heat and it resulted in her mouth getting cut.

According to a friend of the girl, they were partying in a hotel called the Den. The bartenders had asked them to close the eyes and gulp the shot down. However, when she had her shot, she felt that the glass had broken and did not swallow it. While spitting the drink out, her mouth was cut.

Whitefield police booked the staff under sections 337 (causing hurt by endangering life) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

The group also said that the staff of the hotel were rude to them after they raised the issue.

This is not the first time such an incident had occurred. Ashok Nagar police on February had booked staff of a hotel located in Residency Road after a 28-year-old complained that she received severe burns in her mouth after trying a flaming shot. The woman had filed a criminal complaint against the bar as the staff had allegedly not provided her with any help after the incident and blamed it on her saying she had not held the glass in the right way.
