YS Jagan Holds Review Over RTC Takeover

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting about the proposed merger of state RTC with the government on Wednesday.

As part of the review meet Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, Transport Minister Perni Nani and other senior government officials participated in the review.

The review process for the RTC merger commenced on Wednesday. The study committee under the aegis of the State Finance Minister and Transport minister will convene and set to formulate an action plan for the merger. The committee will study the issues related to merger and what would be the issues that might crop during the merger. The Committee will suggest ways of addressing the issues arising during the implementation of the merger process, including the RTC's financial situation.

The committee will also verify the loans and debt status of the RTC and also what are the pending dues to be paid to employees

All this would be based on the status report submitted by APSRTC MD Surendra Babu, MD.

The committee also proposed to do away with existing diesel buses and introduce electric buses. Apart from this, the committee also plans to review the expenditure incurred and will make suggestions about the RTC capabilities and limitations.

It is said that a final report will be submitted within three months, after taking the suggestions of the finance and transport ministers.
