Vijayasai Reddy Writes To CEC About Chandrababu’s Violation of Model Code

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who continues to conduct review meetings and other government related official meeting unabated, despite the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in force has come under the Election Commission (EC) scanner.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) National Secretary and Rajya Sabha Member V Vijayasai Reddy has submitted a letter to the Chief Election Commission (CEC) explaining in details about the Chief Minster's excesses. He also spoke about how Chandrababu Naidu was misusing his public offices and conducting party meetings despite the MCC in place. Vijayasai Reddy also informed the Election Commission (EC) that the Chief Minister was calling MLAs and conducting teleconferences through these public forums. These meetings have to be conducted with prior permission from the EC and that too if it is on an emergency basis , he wrote. Vijayasai Reddy also mentioned that they were not aware whether the Chief Minister took permission and that, the CEC should also look into this issue.

It is also reported that the Chief Minister is using the PrajaVedika building, which is next to his official residence in Undavalli for TDP official meetings. On Monday, he conducted a meeting with his party MLAs and MPs to discuss the fate of the party aspirants in the elections that was held on April 11.

As per the MCC, no Chief Minister or minister should visit their offices in Secretariat and conduct official review meetings or issue orders on routine administrative matters with political consequences. The MCC, which came into force on 10 March, and will last till 27 May once the election process is completed. Chandrababu had called for review meeting on home and law and order subjects, but several senior officials, including Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam, made it clear that they would not attend the meeting citing MCC rules.
