LV Subramanyam Takes Charge As AP Chief Secretary

LV Subramanyam - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: LV Subramanyam took charge as the chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The 1983 batch officer had earlier held key positions including principal secretary health, finance and Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). Earlier, the Election Commission of India had transferred AP Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Puneetha to a non-election post after seeking his explanation on the defiance of EC orders by the AP government with regard to the transfer of DG Intelligence, AB Venkateswara Rao. The state government had first issued a GO transferring 3 IPS officials--AB Venkateswara Rao and the SPs of YSR Kadapa and Srikakulam districts, complying with the orders of the EC. However, the next day, the AP government issued a fresh GO cancelling the earlier one and transferred the two SPs, while retaining DG Intelligence, AB Venkateswara Rao. The AP government claimed that the DG Intelligence was beyond the purview of the Election Commission. The Election Commission summoned the Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Puneetha to Delhi seeking his explanation on the non-compliance of the EC order. Subsequently, it appointed LV Subramanyam of the 1983 batch as the new chief secretary of the state with elections days away.
