CEC Summons AP DGP RP Thakur

New Delhi: The Central Election Commission summoned the Director General of Police RP Thakur to seek an explanation on the AP Government’s defiance of CEC orders transferring three IPS officers in the state, as reported earlier.
The DGP of the state is likely to meet Central Election Commission officials at 1pm on Thursday.
On Tuesday, AP Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Puneetha was summoned by the CEC seeking an explanation in the same matter. It is learned that the CEC wishes to ask the DGP as to how the state government issued a fresh GO keeping the DG intelligence outside the purview of the election commission.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP had complained to the election commission that though the EC and the court had given specific orders on the DG intelligence, he continued to perform his duties in that capacity.
The YSRCP had also sought a transfer of the DGP saying that he should be kept away from election duties in view of his pronounced inclination towards the ruling TDP.
