AP BJP Leaders Lodge Complaint With CEC On Data Breach
New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh BJP leaders led by Rajya Sabha MP, GVL Narasimha Rao and state president Kanna Lakshminarayana met Chief Election Commissioner and other officials of the EC in Delhi.
The BJP delegation from AP briefed the officials of the Election Commission on the scale of the data breach involving the AP government in which personal information of the citizens of the state was compromised by handing it over to private entities.
The BJP leaders demanded action against the TDP government for handing over sensitive personal information of citizens including their Aadhaar card numbers, voter card ID particulars, bank account details, among other things, which were stored in the TDP app, Seva Mitra, to a small private company.
GVL and other BJP leaders demanded that the Election Commission conduct a thorough probe into the manner in which TDP's Seva Mitra app accessed and stored personal data of the citizens of Andhra Pradesh. The state BJP leaders also demanded that the DGP of AP, RP Thakur be shifted immediately.
Kanna Lakshminarayana stated that the officials in AP government were behaving like puppets of the ruling party. The BJP leaders observed that for elections to be conducted in a free and fair manner, a thorough probe should be conducted into the issue of voters names' deletion on a large-scale. The BJP delegation sought a CBI probe into the matter.
Meanwhile, state BJP leader and a qualified Company Secretary, Sudeesh Rambhotla said that from GOs issued by the AP government, it appears that contracts were handed over and payments made to an unregistered company.
There was no such company as Bluefrog Technologies on the Registrar of Companies website, he pointed out. There were 3 three other companies with similar sounding names, but the company with which the Government of Andhra Pradesh had signed up did not feature in them. This points to a massive scam, Rambhotla observed.
