YS Jagan Only Opposition Leader More Popular Than Incumbent CM

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is the only leader of the Opposition among all states to enjoy a greater measure of goodwill and popularity than the incumbent chief minister. This fact was revealed by an India Today-Axis My India Survey which came up for discussion on the National channel last night on a show entitled 'Political Stock Exchange'.

The BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao pointed out that YS Jagan as the leader of the opposition was more popular than the sitting Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. This is not the case of opposition leader in any other state of the country, including the poll-bound states of Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Mizoram.

India Today-Axis My India Survey show entitled ‘Political Stock Exchange’

Added to this is the fact that the survey reveals 43% of the respondents questioned rooting for YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as opposed to 38% for Chandrababu Naidu to be the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. It may be recalled that in 2014, the TDP got 46% of the vote share as compared to 44.35% which the YSRCP had secured. One needs to bear in mind the fact that the TDP went in for an alliance with the BJP and Jana Sena back then. Moreover, both the Modi factor as also Pawan Kalyan's appeal contributed significantly to the success of the Telugu Desam party in 2014. Now, in changed circumstances PM Modi's sheen has worn off considerably in Andhra Pradesh and Pawan Kalyan is not considered a TDP ally.

The survey clearly states that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be the chosen one when it comes to the chief ministerial candidate in the next round of elections. It must be mentioned here that the TDP spokesperson on the show, Rammohan Rao was struggling to come to terms with the facts established by the survey and kept harping on Chandrababu Naidu's achievements.
